The 13th International IFAC workshop on Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS 2019) will be held in Oshawa, Ontario from August 12th to August 14th ( IMS 2019 in partnership with SimuTech Group, brings together researchers and experts from industry and academia to give an overview of the state-of-art, to present new research results, and to exchange ideas and experiences in the field of intelligent manufacturing systems.

3D Printing offers lot of advantages compared to traditional manufacturing methods but introduces new challenges. Join us in learning how the fully integrated simulation environment helps engineers and operators optimize their parts (weight reduction and lattice optimization) as well as the printing process (support optimization, automatic compensation & prediction of the final shape, layer-by-layer distortion, shape and stress visualizations, microstructure, etc.).

However, to further realize the following advantages with Additive Manufacturing, these technologies require more discussion between academia and industry:

  • Reduce cost of entry
  • Reduce waste in building 3D printed engineering compliant parts
  • Increase affordability
  • Reduce waste production
  • Savings on energy costs

This seminar will introduce the above with a collaborative nature between academia and industry to better understand current and upcoming emerging technologies available for practical use.

Join us at our no-cost workshop where we will explain how and navigate you through the interface followed by hands-on workshops to build a model, run the simulation, and interpret results with the help of our staff.

Charles Simoneau, PhD
FEA Consulting Engineer


From 2006 to 2016, Charles Simoneau completed his bachelor, master, and doctorate at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Ecole de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS) in Montreal. During his graduate studies, he attained experience with (FEA) in structural mechanics and with the metal AM Process. Charles joined SimuTech early in 2018 actively working on the AM process simulation. He is also a part-time undergraduate lecturer at ETS.
